Rules for Using Warp It at Historic Environment Scotland
How to contribute or claim resources
The Warp It system has been developed to make the transfer of resources between owners simple and easy. The system has been developed after 10 years in the furniture and equipment reuse sector. There are a lot of problems inherent in transferring equipment- which can be avoided with some straightforward guidance.
To make sure the transfers of ownership are efficient legal and safe, the following guidelines should be followed- as well as the Transfer of Ownership form and the Terms and Conditions.
The following conditions should be followed when using the portal:
-
Departments must be able to provide documentary evidence that any equipment they wish to dispose of is wholly owned by Historic Environment Scotland, and that [if applicable] any other previously interested party has relinquished all ownership claims or agrees to a transfer of ownership.
-
All advertisements for equipment to be offered for transfer must be authorised by line management otherwise advertisements will not be accepted.
-
Any equipment being offered for transfer must be free from contamination with any form of hazardous material, eg chemical, biological, radiation hazards, and must not, in any other way, present an unexpected or unanticipated hazard to the recipient.
-
It will be the buying department's responsibility to verify that the equipment being claimed is as described in the advertisement, and that it functions fully and correctly for the purpose for which they intend to use it.
-
All electrical equipment must be electrically safe. It is the responsibility of the buying department to ensure that a Portable Appliance Test (PAT) has, where appropriate, been carried out before any equipment is put into use. The PAT should be carried out by a trained technician, please log a call on the help desk to arrange a PAT test: 0131 629 5121.
-
Any IT equipment must be dealt with through the HES IT Department, please call 0131 629 5121 to arrange or email roddy.wyllie@hes.scot
-
The Climate Change Team cannot be involved in, or held liable for, any dispute that may arise as a result of the exchange or sale of equipment between departments.
-
Contributing resources
-
All items offered for exchange must be in full working order.
-
The contributing party should describe goods accurately. The upload form has been designed to make this process as easy as possible. Where you see a [?] hover over it for guidance.
-
For example, Offices are usually cramped and so the correct dimensions are essential to ensure the efficient reuse of the item. If a desk is transferred and the size is wrong, then the whole process has been a waste of time and resources.
-
The contributor assigns ownership of the donated goods to the claimant. The contributor makes no warranty or representation of any kind, either expressed or implied including (without limitation) any warranty of merchantability or fitness for purpose in relation to the receipt or use of the donated goods.
-
-
Claiming Resources
-
When claiming items, the claimant takes responsibility for the ownership of the item. It is recommend in all cases that claimants make an appointment to view the products of interest before committing to ownership. It is important that claimants satisfy themselves that the products meet with their approval.
-
Second hand equipment is not covered by manufacturers guarantees.
-
The Claimant must acknowledge and agrees that:
-
The donated goods will be for the use of the claimant only;
-
The claimant must ensure that the donated goods are safe and fit for their purpose.
-
The claimant accepts the donated goods entirely at its own risk and the contributor is not responsible for any injury or harm resulting from the use of donated goods.
-
The claimant indemnifies, releases and holds the contributor harmless from and against all claims, damages, loss, expense and liability, both direct and indirect, of whatsoever nature arising from or in connection with the donated goods.
