How to Contribute or Claim Resources 

The Warp It system has been designed to make the transfer of resources between owners simple, efficient, and user-friendly. 

To ensure all transfers of ownership are carried out efficiently, legally, and safely, contributors and claimants must follow the guidelines below. This includes completing the Transfer of Ownership Form and adhering to the Terms and Conditions of the platform. 

Managing Health and Safety  

Year-on-year, work-related moving and handling or manual handling activities continue to account for the majority of Fife Council’s lost-time injuries. These injuries can be significant, and the chronic effects can be life changing. If you are doing any moving and handling in your work, you must be trained. Please view Fife Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing guidance here. 

• 'Moving and Handling' refers to all work-related activity which involves a physical effort to move or support a load, including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, shovelling, etc. 

• 'Load' refers to any object such as a box, crate, bale, sack, timber batten, masonry, tile, bin, household object, a person or an animal and includes any trolley, sack barrow or mechanical aid used to move or handle that load by physical effort.   

When handling and moving items, it is important to follow safe lifting practices to prevent injury or damage. Ensure you assess the weight and dimensions of the item before attempting to move it. Please use appropriate equipment or request assistance where necessary. Items should only be moved by individuals who are trained and physically capable of doing so safely.

Contributing Resources 

Contributors are expected to provide accurate descriptions of the items they are donating. The upload form is designed to make this process straightforward, with helpful tooltips marked by a [?] icon - simply hover over these for additional guidance. 

By listing an item, the contributor transfers ownership of the donated good(s) to the claimant. The contributor does not provide any warranties or representations, express or implied, including (but not limited to) warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose in relation to the donated good(s). 

Claiming Resources 

By claiming an item, the claimant accepts full responsibility for its ownership. It is recommended that claimants arrange an appointment to inspect any item(s) of interest prior to confirming their claim. Claimants are responsible for ensuring that the item(s) meet their requirements and are satisfactory for their intended use. 

Please note that second-hand equipment is not covered by manufacturer warranties. 

 
The Claimant acknowledges and agrees that: 

1. The donated goods are for the sole use of the claimant. 

2. The claimant is responsible for ensuring that the donated goods are safe and fit for their intended purpose. 

3. The claimant accepts the donated goods entirely at their own risk, and the contributor shall not be held liable for any injury or harm resulting from the use of the donated goods. 

4. The claimant indemnifies, releases, and holds the contributor harmless from and against all claims, damages, losses, expenses, and liabilities, whether direct or indirect, arising from or in connection with the donated goods.
